The Specialisms section of your Therapist Profile is where you can select the different issues you are able to help with, while the Approaches section is where you can list all of the different types of therapy you can offer to clients.
Why do the Specialisms and Approaches sections matter?
The specialisms and approaches you select are the main way for clients to see if you can help with the issues they are seeking support with. These two sections of your Profile determine which client searches your profile will appear in, and which searches you will be excluded from.
We recommend that all therapists review the Specialisms tab in particular, as it is important to ensure that you have selected all of the issues you are able to work with to avoid being left out of client searches where you would be able to help.
If a client searches for an issue you have not selected, then you will not appear in the list of therapists presented to them, so this can lead to fewer bookings if you have not selected all of the issues you are able to work with.
We recommend reviewing the Approaches tab for the same reason, to ensure you are not left out of client searches if they are looking for specific types of therapy.
Selecting Approaches and Specialisms
You can select approaches and specialisms from the drop-down menu, or by typing into the text box if looking for a specific option.
When choosing specialisms to add, you can add individual issues, or select entire groups of issues - if selecting entire groups, please check to make sure you work with all issues included. If you want to remove any specialisms, you can click the small 'X' to delete them.
The specialisms and approaches you select will be listed in your public profile under the headings shown below. You can order these so your preferred specialisms and approaches appear at the top of the list, or leave these as the default alphabetical order :
If a client clicks on your Profile after searching for specific issues or approaches, these will be highlighted in the search results and in your Profile.
An issue or approach is not available to select
If you are looking to add an issue that is not appearing in the list of Specialisms, or a type of therapy that is not appearing in the Approaches section, please check first that this does not appear under a different name or heading.
If the specialism or approach is not listed, you can contact the team to request this be added - we always welcome suggestions for these sections and will add new specialisms and approaches whenever possible.
