Adding a short introductory video to your Therapist Profile is a great way to share a little more about you and what makes you unique as a therapist, and help clients discover more about you so they can decide if you could potentially be a good fit for each other.
It can also help you to stand out in the search results and receive more profile views, increasing the chances of you receiving new client bookings.
You can upload a clip to the Video section of your Therapist Profile here.
When preparing to record your Profile video, we'd recommend the tips below :
make sure your video is well-lit, without any harsh shadows or overly bright lighting (we recommend against sitting directly in front of windows or bright lights, as softer lighting tends to work best).
upload a good quality video - most smartphones can take great quality videos, so we'd recommend reviewing the settings if the quality is poorer than expected.
orient your device to record horizontally.
do not hold your device or camera in your hand selfie-style. Use a secure stand to hold your device steady and still.
record in a quiet, tidy space and use headphones or a microphone for better sound quality - we'd recommend recording your video in the same space you hold client sessions if possible.
lastly, please make sure you are the only person shown in the video, and the only person you can hear! Make sure to turn the volume up when watching your video back so you can check for any audible noise or voices in the background 📹
We would generally recommend using the video as a space to introduce yourself, and to briefly describe what you offer, your main approaches and any other relevant qualifications, trainings or awards you want to highlight.
Some therapists who are focused on one specific therapeutic approach have also used the video tool as a space to explain that approach and who it could benefit in more detail, which is another great option.
Clients are generally looking for a therapist who comes across as friendly, professional, welcoming, and approachable, but the video feature is a great tool to share a bit more of your personality, and can really help clients to see if they could potentially connect well with you as their therapist. If you are quite a direct person, for example, don't be afraid to show that, as some clients will specifically be looking for that quality in a therapist, while others will be looking for a softer or more gentle approach.
It can understandably feel quite nerve-racking or uncomfortable to record a video. If you're struggling to feel comfortable, you may want to ask a friend or family member to stand behind the camera so you have someone to talk to rather than talking to the camera, as this can sometimes help make the process feel more normal and natural.
Why might a Video be rejected?
The most common reasons videos are rejected are related to the information included. Directing clients to external websites, including contact details, asking clients to reach out or get in touch with you directly, inappropriate backgrounds or language, or logos for other therapy companies being visible, will usually result in a video being rejected.
As the Profile Video is a tool for therapists to use to introduce themselves to potential clients, any therapy room tours which do not feature the therapist will also be rejected, as would presentation or PowerPoint-style videos. We are looking to add an option for therapists to add photos of their therapy rooms, and we will let all therapists know when this becomes available.
If a video is particularly low quality or the lighting is poor, the team will likely also reach out to recommend that you record a new video.
While we understand that videos being rejected can be frustrating, especially as they can take some time to record, we only do this where we feel it is necessary because we want to make sure all of the therapists listed on Harley Therapy Platform have the best possible chance of receiving bookings, and we know that certain types or styles of videos usually lead to more new client bookings being received, while others attract far fewer clients, or could even result in a drop in bookings.
What size Video can be uploaded?
Videos should be a minimum of 20 seconds and a maximum of 2 minutes long (we'd recommend between 1 - 2 mins long to give you time to share a little about yourself).
The current maximum file size for videos is 100MB. If your video file is greater than 100MB, there are free tools available online to help you reduce the file size, or you may want to adjust the video quality slightly as this can make a big difference.
Receiving an error message when uploading a Video
If you receive an error when trying to upload a photo, the reason for the error should be noted in the pop-up, however, errors will usually be due to the file size. We would recommend reducing the file size to ensure this is less than 100MB and trying to upload the video again.
If there does not appear to be an issue with the file size or type, please still try uploading the video again, as there may have been a connection issue that interrupted the upload. If you continue to encounter issues, please contact the team.
Can I change or hide my Profile Video?
Yes - to change your Profile Video, you can simply upload a new video. This will automatically replace the previous Profile Video.
To remove your Profile Video, please send the team a message to request that the video be hidden. We'll action that for you as soon as possible.
We review all new videos uploaded as soon as possible, but this can take several days to over a week if the Platform is particularly busy. If a video is rejected, the reason will be noted in the Video section of your Profile.
