There are no set rules here, as the number of therapy sessions each client attends depends on the issues they are seeking help with, and the type of therapy the client wants to try if looking into a specific approach.
Short-term therapies usually require between 6-20 weekly sessions, while long-term therapies tend to be open-ended and can sometimes continue for a year or more. Couples therapy could help you find a resolution after several sessions.
Regardless of the type of therapy you choose or the issues you are seeking help with, therapy does always need at least several sessions to see real benefits. Therapy is not a quick fix and attending only one or two sessions is unlikely to result in lasting improvements. As such, we currently do not offer Single Session Therapy via the Harley Therapy Platform.
We have an article here which goes into more detail about the number of sessions you could expect to attend if you would like some more information.
Although starting therapy requires a commitment, it can be helpful to remember that you can end sessions at any time if you aren't seeing any progress or benefits. It can be disappointing or frustrating to not make the progress you hoped for, but often it just means that the therapist or type of therapy is not the best match for you.
At Harley Therapy, if your therapist is not the right fit for you, we offer a guarantee where we can cover the cost of an initial session with a different therapist if you want to try again with someone new (read more about the guarantee here).
