Booking a single session

While we do not offer one-off sessions or 'Single Session Therapy, if you don't feel that the therapist you have met with is the best fit for you, there is no obligation to return for further sessions. If you have a follow-up session booked, you can cancel this at any time by logging into your Client Dashboard.

If your therapist is not a good fit for you, or if you simply do not 'click' with each other, we will offer to cover the cost of an initial session with a different therapist under our guarantee for clients.

It is important to note that therapy is an ongoing process rather than a quick fix. One session rarely achieves significant, lasting results and it is important to keep this in mind when looking to meet with a therapist.

All of the approaches offered by the therapists listed on our platform are either short or long-term, with short-term therapies usually lasting for a minimum of 6-12 sessions, depending on the type of therapy. We have more information about this here.

We do not offer 'Single Session Therapy' via the Harley Therapy Platform.

Usually, your first session will be focused on information gathering - discussing the issues you would like to work on, any relevant background history, and how the therapist could help you. You may feel some relief from opening up about the issues that you are struggling with, but this can be quite short-lived, and although everyone's experience is unique, it is unlikely you will see significant lasting improvements or changes by attending just one session alone.

Therapy is an ongoing process, so it is beneficial to spend some time thinking about your budget and what is feasible for you.

If you are concerned about the ongoing financial commitment, we would usually recommend that you spend some time choosing a therapist that you can comfortably afford to meet with on a regular basis, rather than spending money on one or two sessions with a more expensive therapist that you are unlikely to continue meeting with.

The most affordable therapists available via Harley Therapy can be found here, and you can use the filters to narrow down which therapists would be most suitable for you. All of the therapists listed on our Platform have to meet the same requirements for joining, and they are all registered or accredited by a select group of UK-based professional bodies, so regardless of the fees the therapist has set, you can still be confident in the therapist you choose to meet with.

We also have an article here with further information about low-cost and free therapy options in the UK.
