How does the HT commission system work?

Harley Therapy Platform does not charge any sign-up or ongoing subscription fees for therapists looking to join the Platform.

Instead, we operate on a commission-based model, so therapists only pay commission on confirmed client bookings. The commission fees cover all marketing, admin and payment processing fees so there is nothing extra to pay on top of the commission, and you only ever pay commission on sessions booked. 


Commission Rates for Therapists

  • 100% (inc. VAT) of the Session Fee on all initial sessions with new clients

  • 10% + VAT (12% in total) of the Session Fee for all follow-on sessions

For clients invited onto the Platform, the 10% + VAT (12% in total) rate is charged on all sessions booked, including the initial session. Clients invited onto the Platform are also not charged the Harley Therapy Service Fee (see below).


What does the commission structure look like in practice?

The commission charged depends on the Session Fees you have set in the Fees section of your therapist profile.

For example, if your fee for individual sessions is set to £50, when a new client books with you, the commission charged on the initial session will be £50, and then £6 for each follow-up session.


The commission is deducted automatically each time a client payment is processed, so you do not need to manually transfer or pay the commission fees.

Each time a payment is processed, an invoice for the commission will become available on the relevant session details page. You can also view a full list of all commission paid (and download the invoices) by going to the Payments tab in the Billing section of your Therapist Account.


Client Service Fee for New Clients (from 1st October 2021)

From 1st October 2021 any new clients booking via the Harley Therapy platform will be charged a service fee for all bookings. The Service Fee is always 6% of the session fee or a minimum of £5.95 (inc. VAT) if the therapist's Session Fee is under £100.

The Service Fee is necessary to cover the costs of providing administrative services and customer support from our dedicated UK-based team. All clients agree to the ongoing Service Fees when booking the initial session as part of the Therapist to Client Terms & Conditions which are also highlighted on the payment page when booking the initial session. 

Clients can download separate invoices for both the Session Fee (from the Therapist) and the Service Fee (from the Harley Therapy Platform) for each session booked via their Dashboard. We have instructions for this here. Receipts for the total sum are sent via email each time a payment is processed. 

Any clients invited onto the Platform will not be charged the Service Fee. Clients who began working with their therapist prior to the 1st October 2021 will also not be charged the Service Fee on any follow-up sessions booked.

When setting up your fees for new Clients, or adding a modified fee for an individual Client, you do not need to add the Service Fee as this is calculated and added separately as an additional charge separate to the Session Fee. 


When do I receive payment as a therapist?

Clients pay for initial sessions upfront, with the payments for follow-up sessions being processed automatically 48 hours before the session start time. Clients agree to this process when booking the initial session, as part of the Terms & Conditions for Clients. 

The payments for their follow-up sessions are charged to the card stored in the client’s account, which is usually the card they used to pay for their initial session, but they can change this in their Client Dashboard by logging into their account at any time. Receipts are sent via email to the client to confirm each time a payment is processed.

When a payment is processed for a follow-up session, the payment (minus the commission) is transferred to your Stripe account instantly.

Stripe will then payout to your bank account according to the preferences you set up there. Typically payments take about 7 days to reach your bank in our experience but you can view them and the status of the payouts in your Stripe Dashboard at https://dashboard.stripe.com/
